“Beginnings 1.3: The Unity Ceremony” Addendum

Zelda: Finally! The big day!

Link: And here are our thoughts on it, plus some tidbits we didn’t include in the narrative and a couple of extra pictures, so read on!

Zelda: Hm, how long did it take us to plan this? About a year, right?

Link: If my memory isn’t too fuzzy, then yes, it took us about a year to plan the ceremony.

Link: Though, honestly, you did most of the planning… and I just followed and helped where I could haha.

Zelda: You were still a lot of help. I did most of the planning on what to have in the ceremony, getting the vows for Link and I to read and memorize, decorations, and general logistics. Link helped a lot with the collecting and organizing though, especially where food and decorations where concerned. In fact, Link sculpted several small statuettes to decorate the dining tables with. Groose and Link also made sure we could bring the Loftwings down for this.

Link: Groose handled the Loftwings since I was a bit too busy with other things. I felt rather bad for him though, since my Loftwing still held some resentment towards him from capturing him all those years ago! But Groose told me not to worry and that he’d handle it.

Zelda: Once we settled on food, locations, and decorations, we had to make our ceremonial outfits. Karane designed my ceremonial dress, and Luv designed Link’s. The sword Link used to recite his vows was crafted by Eagus. It looked nice, didn’t it?

Link: That’s right! Usually Skyloftian ceremonies are pretty grand, but here in the Surface, where there were more guests to attend, it was particularly packed! Especially in Hylia’s Temple where I decided to have the ceremony to make Fi part of it.

Zelda: I really enjoyed our Leap, too. Didn’t it remind you of something, Link?

Link: When I won the Loftwing race and you leapt off the platform so I caught you?

Zelda: Haha that’s right! Though it was planned this time and now you were the one who took me by surprise. But who would’ve thought we would one day be Leaping together like this…
Link: It is pretty touching when you think about it.

Zelda: Everyone had a lot of fun! Even the Kikwis who were initially scared with all the music and ruckus warmed up pretty quickly. Gorko especially enjoyed himself since he had read stories about these ceremonies and he actually got to take part in one this time! Even Faron dropped by for a quick visit to congratulate us.

Link: Mostly Zelda, though. She made a point of describing what’d happen to me if I failed to take care of Zelda. It was a bit awkward.
Link: Though she did drop off a Unity gift for me to “help me” in that task, which I appreciated haha.

Zelda: The party that afternoon was pretty amazing! And Henya and Piper really outdid themselves with the food!

Link: Haha, yeah. Though some people… kinda got a bit wasted… namely Professor Owlan, Horwell, Groose, and your… father….

Zelda: Look at the bright side, at least they sang us a really happy song.
Link: Happy? It sounded like dying Loftwings.
Link: Though your dad did pull me to a side to tell everyone how much he appreciated me and was glad you had chosen me. It was pretty nice and heartwarming.

Zelda: Father did always love you, and never stopped being grateful for what you did for me.

Link: There were a lot of funny moments… from Horwell calling everyone Remlits and swearing up and down he’d take care of them forever, to Groose recounting the story of our adventure again but with him as the main character… Sadly at the end of the night we had to help Groose into his house and Owlan helped Horwell. It’s good to know they had fun, though!

Zelda: Oh my, haha. Talking about which, It’s a good thing our askbox is closed at the moment. People would probably ask about our unity night….

Link: Why would they ask about it? It was our first night together as a couple, but we arrived pretty beat and just slumped on the bed. We were so exhausted from everything.

Zelda: Aw Link, you ruined the suspense….

Link: The suspense? What do you mean?

Zelda: Oh Link, you never change. Never mind…

Link: Um… okay… (What did she mean, anyway?)
